ENO Schoolnet is partnering in the Stop Forest Fires Five for Green (5G) Erasmus+ project, which focuses on forest fires and climate change with the aim of producing up-to-date educational materials for schools.

Planning of the final outputs progressed while we also learned new things about forest fires from a Greek perspective. The fourth partner meeting was held on 24–26 February 2026 in Pallini, Greece, where the staff of the 1st Lyceum of Pallini “Pierre de Coubertin,” including both teachers and students, hosted the project team during a three-day visit. From ENO, project staff members Maire Turunen and Ulla Pötsönen participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the partners learned a great deal about Greek forest fires, their prevention and analysis, and also became familiar with the Greek education system, school life, culture and hospitality. Powerful highlights included visits to the Hellenic Fire Museum, where we learned more about the history of forest fires and their prevention, and to a large forest fire area in the Parnitha Mountains, where a WWF expert explained the dynamics of natural forest regeneration.

The final outputs of the project will include, among other things, a teachers’ guide (Digital Booklet) and a gamified digital learning material for students (Digital Map). The project started in late winter 2025 and will continue until the end of 2027, when the results will be published and disseminated to schools.
